We come from the events industry
MiceBird wasn't dreamed up at a drawing board. It grew out of the software we built for our own events — and opened up once it turned out the rest of the industry was running into exactly the same things.
From in-house system to platformOur story
How MiceBird came about
Four steps, from our own frustration to a platform the whole industry works with.
Step 1
It started in the events themselves
We ran events ourselves. Requests arriving through the contact form, quotes in Word, the guest list in Excel, invoices in yet another package. Every event was a relay race of separate files, and at every handover something went missing or got entered twice.
Step 2
And it turned out to be the same everywhere
That work put us in touch with a lot of other event companies: venues, agencies, caterers, restaurants. The moment the conversation turned to admin, we heard the same story every time. Everyone had their own home-made patchwork of tools. Nobody thought that was normal, but there wasn't anything better either.
Step 3
So we built our own system
Not as a product, but because we needed it. Request, quote, planning, attendees, tickets and invoicing in one system, so data only had to be entered once. Because we used it ourselves every day, anything that didn't work in practice fell away on its own.
Step 4
And we opened it up
Whenever we showed it to the companies we met, the reaction was always the same: can we have this too? That became MiceBird. The same system, developed into a complete platform, so every event company has software that actually works for them.
What sets us apart
Software from inside the industry
Coming from events isn't just an anecdote. It shows up in every choice we make in the product.
Conceived in practice
Every feature came out of a real problem during a real event. We don't need a feature to fill out a sales pitch — it ships because someone needed it that week.
The whole journey, not one piece of it
Most tools cover a single phase: ticketing only, invoicing only. It's precisely between those phases that things go wrong. That's why MiceBird runs from the first request to the final invoice, in one system.
Made for the Dutch market
VAT rates, e-invoicing, Mollie, Moneybird, the way quotes and deposits work here. That isn't a translation of an American platform — it's the starting point.
Short lines
You talk to people who have run events themselves, not a support script. What users ask for lands directly on the roadmap — often in weeks, not years.
What we're working towards
Event companies are at their best when they're focused on the event, not the admin around it. We want every event company — from a two-person venue to a fifty-person agency — to have access to software as good as what the biggest players have built for them.
Curious whether it fits your team?
We're happy to show you how MiceBird works for your kind of events. No sales pitch — just the system, with your own situation alongside it.
